Role overview

As Joke Master, you share a short joke to add humor and energy to the meeting. It is a brief speaking moment — not a Pathways speech — and a friendly way to practice standing up in front of the club.

Before the meeting

  • Choose one short joke that is appropriate for a mixed audience (clean, positive, and easy to follow).
  • Practice saying it out loud so the punchline lands clearly.
  • Know when you speak on the agenda (often near evaluations or as scheduled by the Toastmaster / General Evaluator).

When called to speak

Thank you, Mr./Madam Toastmaster (or General Evaluator).

Fellow Toastmasters and guests:

[Tell your joke.]

Thank you.

Tips for success

  • Keep it short — one joke is enough.
  • If a joke might be sensitive or unclear, pick a different one. When in doubt, ask an officer ahead of time.
  • Smile, pause before the punchline, and enjoy the moment — the club wants you to succeed.
