Getting started
General Evaluator
The quality-control officer of the meeting. They evaluate the evaluators and give feedback on how well the overall meeting ran.
Role overview
As General Evaluator, you lead the evaluation portion of the meeting. You introduce the speech evaluators, call for the functionary reports (Timer, Ah Counter, Grammarian), and then give a brief overall assessment of how the meeting ran—what worked well and what the club can improve next time.
Think of yourself as the meeting’s quality-control lead. This role builds listening, organization, and the ability to deliver constructive feedback to the whole club, not just one speaker.
Opening remarks
When introduced by the Toastmaster, stand and state the following:
Thank you, Mr./Madam Toastmaster, fellow Toastmasters, and guests:
Evaluations are one of the most valuable components of the Toastmasters experience. They help us grow as speakers by providing thoughtful feedback on what we did well and where we can improve.
Each evaluation should focus on how the speech was delivered and how effectively the speaker met the objectives of their project.
Let’s begin with our speech evaluations.
